Affordable Seychelles

Affordable Seychelles is one of the latest campaign launched by the Seychelles Marketing Board (STB) It is well known amongst travellers that visiting the Seychelles islands can be an expensive affair; before we do anything, we need to define expensive and affordability because both are directly related to money paid for a service.

Being expensive is when you pay for something and you do not get the matching services. On the other hand affordability is receiving in abundance compared to the fees paid.

Let us put these in context. It is not important if you are paying 1000$ a night in a five star hotel or 50$ a night in a guest house, the terms expensive or affordable becomes irrelevant because these terms are purely based on what services and the quantity of it that you receive based on perception and your initial expectation.

The matter is then left to choices and these choices matching the expectations. Expectation, somehow are always higher that any amount of money paid because it is human nature to expect more, especially if it is being paid for. So when does it become affordable?

Seychelles Islands - a 5 star destination

For years now the seychelles islands has been marketed as a five star destination. The expert says that it is purely marketing, you cannot confuse the market with different messages. If you look at the statistics there is only one 5 star hotel on praslin island, nil on la digue island and the remaining 5 star hotel on mahe island you can count on your fingers. Yet there are 100’s of lower ranked establishment that has been the corner stone of the Seychelles island tourism industry for years and are still striving businesses with guest repeating year after year.

What does it mean? Seychelles Islands, a 5 star destination, it is surely not the hotels as they are few and far between. This information then forces us to look elsewhere for a more reasonable answer. The Seychelles islands are surely unique in many ways, no earth quake, no extreme weather conditions.

The Seychelles islands are now well known globally and is associated with some very special names like, garden of eden, the lost world, with virgin rain forest, green mountains, white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters, abundant of marine life and a multi racial society. This is probably what they meant by a 5 star destination.
