Seychelles Shark attack

Shark attack on human is  very rare in the Seychelles and are considered at freak incidents. This is no longer the case as we now have 2 widows in 3 weeks and both accidents happening in the same location. The famous anse lazio beach of praslin island.

We will try to keep you posted with daily events on the beach and decisions taken to remedy the situation.

  1. currently the beach is open to visitors but swimming is banned. There are 24/7 police visibility patrolling the beach to enforce the ban. You will be surprise how many people still want to swim with the shark after 2 people have been killed.
  2. There is a memorial service for the late Mr. Redmond at the beach. It is not known if Jemma will be present.
  3. Shark scientist from around the world are being flown in to land a hand.
  4. There are contradictory report of the shark spotting, some say it is a 2M shark whilst others are saying it is a 4M shark, 
  5. There are different groups or organisations that are working toward ending this dilemma.

Gemma Redmond says on BBC that Seychelles “is a beautiful place, people must come”


Gemma Redmond, the grieving British bride who lost her husband in a shark attack in the Seychelles has spoken to BBC Radio and in her own voice said:-

“The last thing I would want is for any of these events to affect the Seychellois people, their livelihoods and the tourism in the area.
